At the same time, they are well aware that many people do not believe that priming is necessary, especially if a painted surface is in good shape, with no stains or chips, and they are not trying to cover an oil-based paint with latex. The choice is yours, of course, but always apply primer to: Untreated or raw wood New drywall Walls that are about to undergo a drastic change in color (especially from dark to light but also from light to dark)

Not all paints are created equal though- different types of paints have different drying times. For oil based paints, let the walls dry for at least 24-hours before re-applying. However, if you are using a latex based paint you can begin your second coat in 4-6 hours.
Paint and primer will likely cost the same no matter where you live, but labor is another story. For one, hourly labor rates will be higher in big cities than small towns. Higher rates obviously make a higher overall cost of professional painting.
Loving the exterior colours. Along with the cornices it makes those '80's pine log houses look brand new.
Painting hides mold spots on your wall, but it will not kill it. Even if you’re keen on finding a quick fix for mold in your home, painting is not the way to do it. It is simply a temporary solution that allows the issue to spread. Your best choice will be to hire a mold remediation expert. Removing mold from your drywall before painting can cost anywhere from $1,500 to $3,500, depending on if you need a simple treatment or a more complex solution for an entire wall.
In regard to his professional career, Lee espouses the virtues of proactive communication. “I pride myself on having good communication with customers,” he affirms. “Whether I’m following up with them after the job or calling ahead to let them know I’m running behind, they really appreciate being kept in the loop. A lot of painters struggle with this, so I make a concerted effort to keep those communication lines open.”
I am more than impressed with Kelly Brothers Painting! From start-to-finish, the professionalism of each employee was beyond expectation. We painted the entire interior of our house (a five day project) and everyday, the crews arrived on-time and left the house each day as clean as they arrived. I will use Kelly Brothers again for future projects!!!
Kelly Brothers Painting, utilizing the talented brushes and sprayers of Luis and his crew, recently completed painting the exterior of our South Reno home and we couldn't be happier. The price was fair, the timing convenient, and the results were fantastic. Their attention to detail, from masking to painting exceeded our expectations. The process beginning with the estimate, to color selection, to the application was conducted by true professionals and really nice people to work with. We will definitely use Kelly Brothers Painting again for our future projects. Thanks for a job well done.
The company’s communication was very good throughout the process. As far as the actual painting, we were fortunate to have Justo and his crew for our house painting. They did a fantastic job start to finish and were pleasant to be around. In the hit or miss world of contractors , this company will take care of you.
It provides some gloss, is still easy to clean, does not highlight imperfections, and is not as easily prone to damage as flat paint.
Josh, some great work on the renovation, it’s come up really nicely! It’s good to see you stressing the importance of not taking short cuts when it comes to prepping and removing wallpaper. It definitely does lead to more problems down the road when done incorrectly. However there is a caveat on that. If the wallpaper is in good condition and you have primed it properly, you can get away with painting over wallpaper. On a few jobs where the client has been on a tight budget, we have used an oil based primer to really seal the adhesive and keep then moisture from the paint away. Has worked well and we haven’t got any call backs. But I’d still agree with you and always push for stripping back wallpaper where possible. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as the saying goes. Also, would love to see how your painted popcorn ceilings came up. We call it ‘vermiculite’. Its quite old school and we come across it in school jobs and old buildings occasionally. Jake Beals May 09, 2020
