Paint accounts for approximately 10-20% of a painting job's total cost. Some paints are more expensive but stay longer on your walls. Your desired finish, for example semi-gloss, affects the cost as well.
One more factor in cost is what portion of the work you do yourself. For interior painting, if you move furniture and wall hangings, that will lessen cost somewhat. Similarly, if you move any items blocking full access to the exterior areas to be painted, costs will be a little less.
If the wall you’re painting is in good condition and you aren’t trying to cover up stains or a darker color of paint, you might be able to skip the primer altogether. You would save money in the moment, but the paint job would be lower quality and you may have to repaint sooner.

When it comes to removing lead from your home, it’s important to have a professional on your side. While it is possible to paint over lead paint, it has to be done in a specific way to effectively cover the potentially dangerous lead paint. This process is known as encapsulation. Regular water-based or oil-based paints won’t work. Instead, you’ll need to use paints specifically called “encapsulants.” Other methods may be used to remove lead paint, and each one has a different price tag. The process can cost anywhere from $8,000 to $15,000.
Mobile homes cost from $4,144 to $11,840 to paint. The U.S. Census Bureau pegs the average sale price of a single-wide mobile home at $57,700, which means that a high-quality paint job averaging $11,840 would represent more than 20 percent of the original purchase price of the house. Fortunately, the vinyl-on-gypsum wall panels inside the average manufactured home are easy to paint, which means it might be more beneficial to go with a painter that charges by the hour rather than by the square foot.
These tips can greatly reduce any issues with interior air quality during or after a painting project and can help you take advantage of the savings associated with off-season bookings.

Another potential issue with older textured ceilings is asbestos – in the UK at least, asbestos was sometimes used in whatever it is they put up there.
