They were suppose to patch stucco fixtures, sand wood trims. The paint on the front door and vents are peeling off. The work was messy and they did not clean up well. They left paint all over the roofing tile and windows.The owner should be around more to supervise his workers. We are dissatisfied and disappointed with this business. Please do your due diligence before hiring this company.

The primary difference between the cost of interior paints ($10 to $70 per gallon) and exterior paints ($15 to $80 per gallon) is the resin. The resins used in exterior paints are softer, making them resistant to flaking, chipping, and sun damage. The interior paint uses a more rigid resin that resists marking and staining. Many exterior paints use a resin that causes outgassing, an emission of volatile organic compounds. Common to many manufactured products, it is what causes that “new car smell.” The outgassing from exterior paint resins continues for many years, even after the odor dissipates. It is a major reason professionals don't use or allow homeowners to use exterior paints indoors.
The third line item is “Trim and Doors”- this is the hardest one to estimate there are so many variables. Condition of trim, how much trim, wainscot, crown molding, 2 doors or 46 doors. Is the trim already painted and needs a fresh coat. Or is your trim wood and needs to be primed and painted. So trim and doors can vary anywhere from $2.50- $10.00 per sq ft. $2.50 per square foot ranch home, white trim being re-painted white. $10.00 per square foot Craftsman home loaded with trim, priming and painting everything. Example (1500 sq ft home X $4.00 to paint trim and doors (average) = $6,000.00 this would include labor and materials.

We are in the process of painting our entire house. It’s not huge by any means but we do have very high ceilings in our living room/kitchen which has created an extra issue. Prep work for old homes can be especially difficult. Poor prep work on an exterior will mean needing to re-paint sooner (sometimes literally within 1-2 years), which will cost far more time and money than doing it correctly in the first place. In fact, a good professional paint company may use more than half of the entire project time preparing a surface to paint. Trust the process; this time could be difference in hundreds of hours and dollars.
As for actually using the sprayer, the main thing to remember is to not overcoat with paint. Two or three quick passes will minimize drippage as opposed to trying to get a full coat on all at once. (Which I learned the hard way. The first room I painted was so drippy droppy, we had to do some extra sanding once it dried. I felt so bad!) Only by actually using the sprayer will you get a method down. By the time I was done with the sprayer, I felt like a pro and actually had fun painting!
