You will also have to consider the texture of the walls. Highly textured walls may require special equipment to paint. Otherwise, you risk messing up the entire process. Plus, it’s important to consider the overall condition of the walls. Painters may have to patch holes, repair drywall, and remove wallpaper, which will further drive up your project’s cost. Interior painting projects can be complex in different ways. If you’re thinking about painting a mural, high ceilings, accent walls, or using faux finishes, you can expect to see a shift in the overall cost. Some rooms can be more costly to paint than others, depending on the number of windows, style of trim, wall height, and type of paint you decide to use.

Luckily, you don’t necessarily need to replace your siding. A fresh coat of paint is a great way to update the exterior of a home. Exterior painting typically costs $1,500 – $4,000 for a 1,000 square foot single story home and can cost $2,500 – $5,000 for a two story home. Many spend about $2,500 to hire a contractor to complete the project. It’s essential that you conduct a maintenance check on the condition of your siding before you can come to an informed decision. If any of it is warped or cracked, you should repair these sections before proceeding to paint. If you’re preparing to paint your siding and notice some flaws in its overall construction, you should learn more about the price of new siding and the cost of siding repairs before investing in any paint. This way, you’ll know that your budget can cover the essential maintenance required before you dive into painting. Once you’ve addressed any problems you may have with your siding and have fixed it up so that it is in good condition, the next step is to figure out how to go about painting it. One of the first questions many homeowners ask in this regard is how much it will actually cost. There are many factors to consider in this respect, but let’s look at paint cost first.

When it comes to removing lead from your home, it’s important to have a professional on your side. While it is possible to paint over lead paint, it has to be done in a specific way to effectively cover the potentially dangerous lead paint. This process is known as encapsulation. Regular water-based or oil-based paints won’t work. Instead, you’ll need to use paints specifically called “encapsulants.” Other methods may be used to remove lead paint, and each one has a different price tag. The process can cost anywhere from $8,000 to $15,000.
As with most home renovation projects, one of the largest costs associated with exterior house painting is labor. Hiring a professional company to paint the exterior of your home will typically cost you between $30 to $40 per hour per painter required to assist with the work. Most home painting businesses allot two painters per job, and these two workers are most typically able to cover 100 square feet of the home per hour. Based on a home that is 2,400 square feet in size, the labor cost to simply paint the house once all the prep work has been completed would range from $1,440 to $1,920.

Josh, some great work on the renovation, it’s come up really nicely! It’s good to see you stressing the importance of not taking short cuts when it comes to prepping and removing wallpaper. It definitely does lead to more problems down the road when done incorrectly. However there is a caveat on that. If the wallpaper is in good condition and you have primed it properly, you can get away with painting over wallpaper. On a few jobs where the client has been on a tight budget, we have used an oil based primer to really seal the adhesive and keep then moisture from the paint away. Has worked well and we haven’t got any call backs. But I’d still agree with you and always push for stripping back wallpaper where possible. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as the saying goes. Also, would love to see how your painted popcorn ceilings came up. We call it ‘vermiculite’. Its quite old school and we come across it in school jobs and old buildings occasionally. Jake Beals May 09, 2020
