Wow, you all are hard at work! Major take home- don’t skip the foundation, which is thorough preparation and cleanup. It definitely makes the end result a satisfying one. Thanks for the tips & Happy Wednesday 🙂 Kristin Cook February 25, 2015

The average cost to paint the interior of a home is $2.20 per square foot. If you include walls, trim, and ceilings the cost per square foot is $3.80. If repairs are needed before painting, you’ll likely pay more. This assumes you hire a professional painter to do the job versus doing it yourself.
Most homeowners don’t know where to start when it comes to hiring a good painter. After all, even if the color samples and the initial paint job look great, how can you be sure the contractor has the skill and experience to make your new house paint last?

Curb appeal isn’t all about the walls. Other outdoor features — such as trim, doors, and gutters — need new paint every once in a while, too. Painting these parts of your house along with the siding can give the whole exterior a clean, put-together look.
My house was a 70s build, and almost completely wallpapered with a lot of the wallpaper painted over, which definitely didn’t help in removing it all! I also had a slightly different problem with removing wallpaper – the previous owners had used vinyl wallpaper, which when steamed stretched a lot rather than scraping off easily. It was easier to just score and scrape or peel off the paper dry, and later steam off any papery bits that were left on the wall.
Josh, some great work on the renovation, it’s come up really nicely! It’s good to see you stressing the importance of not taking short cuts when it comes to prepping and removing wallpaper. It definitely does lead to more problems down the road when done incorrectly. However there is a caveat on that. If the wallpaper is in good condition and you have primed it properly, you can get away with painting over wallpaper. On a few jobs where the client has been on a tight budget, we have used an oil based primer to really seal the adhesive and keep then moisture from the paint away. Has worked well and we haven’t got any call backs. But I’d still agree with you and always push for stripping back wallpaper where possible. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as the saying goes. Also, would love to see how your painted popcorn ceilings came up. We call it ‘vermiculite’. Its quite old school and we come across it in school jobs and old buildings occasionally. Jake Beals May 09, 2020
This is an important trick to use when you’re painting in high humidity whether you’re indoors or outdoors. Instead of one or two moderate to thick coats, opt for several thin coats. Thin coats of paint will dry at a quicker rate, which means they’re more likely to cure without issue.
Color and tone have a powerful impact on how a room is perceived. It’s crucial to take the time to view each room on its own and in conjunction with the rest of the space. The right colors will help you communicate the story of your home. You need to figure out the look you’re going for before you start designing. One of the best ways to find the perfect color story for your space is to look at the color wheel. Ask yourself if you want to create a bright and young look or a modern and sleek design. There are plenty of design kit apps that you can use to play around with your space virtually so that you can find the right fit for your home.

You will be paying between $9,000 and $12,000 on average to paint the interior of a 3,000 sq.ft. house. You will need between seven and eight gallons of paint to complete one coat. This cost can fluctuate based on many factors, including if you’re painting on staircases, if you have to move large pieces of furniture, and if you need to paint the ceilings, too.
Painting a townhouse costs $1,000 to $4,300 on average, depending on the size, siding type, and the number of stories. Painting a townhouse only includes the front and back walls because most townhomes share one or both sidewalls with neighboring units.
How much you spend on mold remediation depends on how far the infestation has spread and whether it has caused significant property damage. You can usually expect to pay between $1,373 and $3,325 for mold remediation, but in severe cases, the bill could run into the tens of thousands.
Spring is typically the time when homeowners get in the mood to clean out their garages and purge old stuff. For a number of men, their garage is their sanctuary, and they want to treat it as such. After cleaning out the junk, organizing the tools, and finding a...
This is also true for a home’s interior. When painting new construction, it is often done before any furniture, lighting fixtures, cabinetry, and other items are inside, so there is no need for extensive preparations. Generally, painters start their work after all the drywall, plumbing, and electrical work. Since the flooring won’t even be down yet, you don’t have to worry about post-paint cleanup either. Due to all these facts, the interior and exterior painting cost for new construction will range from $7,000 to $11,000 to paint the average 2,500 sq.ft. home during the construction process.
We certainly do not expect homeowners to have access to one, but for professional results, a moisture reader is the most accurate.
