Labor and material costs vary from project to project, so house size isn’t the only thing that affects your overall price. Different kinds of paint will cost more or less per gallon, certain contractors will charge higher hourly rates, and the material of your siding will determine how much paint you have to use.

When it comes to removing lead from your home, it’s important to have a professional on your side. While it is possible to paint over lead paint, it has to be done in a specific way to effectively cover the potentially dangerous lead paint. This process is known as encapsulation. Regular water-based or oil-based paints won’t work. Instead, you’ll need to use paints specifically called “encapsulants.” Other methods may be used to remove lead paint, and each one has a different price tag. The process can cost anywhere from $8,000 to $15,000.

But if you work for one of the many employers who like to hire you as an independent contractor, you may have to buy brushes, rollers and other necessary tools. You can start with as little as $100, and add tools as you need them.

If you’re planning on repainting your home, you may have to take a few extra steps. Depending on the state of your walls and the current color, you’ll probably have to put a layer of primer down first. That way, you can be sure the new color shines without the old showing underneath. For the average 2,500 sq.ft. house, you can expect to pay between $7,700 and $10,500 with the primer layer.

From bidding the job to completing the job, the whole staff at Kelly Brother's Painting was professional and a pleasure to work with. We had our windows replaced and they painted the new exterior window trim and molding that had to be installed around the inside of the windows. We had some color hiccups to match the exterior body color, but it was resolved fairly and handled exceptionally. Having painters in the house with home schooling children and several yapping dogs can make a stressful situation, but Brian and Justin made it easy and worry free. They do excellent work and the results show it.
Now, if you enjoy painting and have all of the supplies already, you can skip these next two steps entirely and get to painting.
As for actually using the sprayer, the main thing to remember is to not overcoat with paint. Two or three quick passes will minimize drippage as opposed to trying to get a full coat on all at once. (Which I learned the hard way. The first room I painted was so drippy droppy, we had to do some extra sanding once it dried. I felt so bad!) Only by actually using the sprayer will you get a method down. By the time I was done with the sprayer, I felt like a pro and actually had fun painting!
