It is a known fact that painting is much easier when there is nothing in your way. This means empty out the room, or at least as much as possible. If you are painting your living room, move large furniture pieces to the center and cover them up with old sheets or drop cloths.
When painting the exterior of your home, you’ll likely inspect parts of your house you don’t usually pay much attention to. In doing so, you might find an unwanted surprise: mold. If you are paying for your painting project per square foot, the costs vary between interior and exterior projects. The average painting cost per square foot for exterior painting projects ranges from $1.50 to $4. For interior painting, you can expect to pay between $2 and $6. Generally speaking, interior projects will be more expensive due to the complexity of the project. Even though exterior paint costs more than interior, it is more difficult to prep, paint, and clean rooms of various shapes and sizes versus the entire outside of a house. That’s why the overall cost is more per square foot.
We were pleased with all aspects of our Kelly Brothers job. The bid process was painless, the price was as expected, the color consultant was helpful, the 3 painters were careful, prompt, detailed, and worked very hard atop 2-story ladders for two weeks. Thanks to painters Luis, Simon, & Pancho!

Soundproof paint costs around $50 to $100 per gallon, a price many homeowners are willing to pay for the added noise protection. Soundproof paint is thicker than normal paint, thanks to thermacels with soft pigment and ceramic microspheres. This extra mass causes sound to vibrate, absorbing the waves, so there is less noise overall. An average gallon of interior paint does not have that filler, meaning more sound gets through. The noise protection is a huge advantage, as is the easy application and additional insulation to keep the room warmer. As for disadvantages, the added density means soundproof paint takes longer to dry. It is also meant for blocking airborne sound, not impact noise, so it does not work well on ceilings.
