You’ve likely heard that the best time to paint your house is when the weather warms up—and that’s largely true. Optimal weather for paint is generally when temperatures are consistently warm and above 50 degrees F. While springtime in certain parts of the country may be warm enough, in many other parts, it’s not reliably temperate, especially come nighttime when temperatures may dip into freezing territory. Also keep in mind rainy season—which arrives for most areas in the spring.

Another tip! If you’re painting textured walls, even edge lock tape won’t always do the trick! You can put the tape on the wall and then go over the edges with a thin stripe or PAINTABLE clear caulking! One part will come up with the tape, the other stays on the wall under the paint, and keeps the paint from seeping under the edge of the tape. Just remember to keep it thin so you don’t see it on the wall! Hazel February 25, 2015

It’s important to think about the accents in and around your home, such as furniture, decorations, patio pieces, and more. Think about your front entry door, as this will be the focal point of your exterior. You can paint the inside and the outside of your front door indifferent colors. However, it is important to match it with the borders seen from either the inside or the outside. These features may seem small and insignificant on their own, but together they will either make or break the entire aesthetic of your home.
