Of course, exterior house painting requires a bit of work and significant investment. If you are hesitant regarding whether the value of applying a fresh coat of paint on your exterior home is worth the cost or not, the answer is: YES, it is.
Q: My exterior paint is peeling. Why is this happening and what can I do about it? A: Paint can peel when exposed to moisture and weathering. Your paint may be peeling because it is the wrong type of paint for the surface, it was applied in a poor manner, or the surface was not properly prepared before it was painted. If your paint is peeling, there isn’t much you can do about it. The peeling paint will need to be removed, the surface sanded and prepared, and a new coat of paint applied. Your best course for dealing with peeling paint is to remove the entire coat of paint, not just the peeling area. That’s because the rest of the paint will most likely also fail, since it was applied in the same way to the same surface. Contact a local Sonoma County painting company to assess the damage and advise you on your specific situation.

Painting a brick house costs $1.50 to $4.50 per square foot or $2,600 to $7,700 for a 2,000 SF home. Mineral-based paints cost the most but last the longest and maintain the brick's breathability to prevent deterioration. Painting raw brick requires a primer coat. Brick staining costs $1 to $4 per square foot and changes the brick's color with dye while allowing it to remain breathable. The cost to brick a house is $8 to $18 per square foot for siding too damaged for painting.
If you're painting your ceilings you'll want to paint them before you start the walls. Using your brush, cut-in a straight line where the ceiling meets the walls or, if there's crown molding, where the ceiling meets the trim. If you're also painting the walls and/or crown molding you can actually overlap the paint onto the adjacent surfaces since you'll be covering it up later. Make certain you keep your brush wet to avoide any drag marks on your finish caused by dry bristles.
Highly recommend Kelly Brothers Painting! They have just finished epoxying my cement garage floor and it looks incredible! This was a small garage but a big job. Uplifted spots were ground flat, cracks were cemented closed, floor-to-wall transitions were added, colors and chips were customized, and an extra coat of clear was laid. The finished floor looks amazing, well worth the investment!
Most paints include water alongside a solvent. For the paint to cure and form a hard surface, the water needs to evaporate before the solvent does. With oil-based paints, the same is true: the oil needs to evaporate before the solvent does.
