A professional interior painting contractor should be willing to provide a breakdown of your costs so you can see exactly what you’re paying for. They’ll also be able to advise you on ways to reduce your costs. For example: Instead of making a dramatic color change, a single coat of the same or similar color can give you a fresh, polished look for less. You may avoid the need for primer, which is an additional expense. If you want to paint one wall of a room for a punch of color, choosing the wall with the most windows and doors can save you money, as you’re painting less wall space. Re-evaluate the need to paint trim. You might still get the effect you want without it. If you’ve fallen in love with a color from a “designer” brand of paint, consider a less expensive option. You’re likely to get a close or even perfect match. If your walls need repairs, consider making them yourself.
The most popular color for a house exterior is Alabaster by Sherwin-Williams. The creamy off-white exterior color looks great on every type of siding including wood, vinyl, brick, fiber cement, and stucco. Alabaster also works as a siding or trim color so it's quite a versatile exterior paint color as well. Painting Siding All Services Gutters AboutExpand Our Team Portfolio FAQ Reviews Articles
Another tip! If you’re painting textured walls, even edge lock tape won’t always do the trick! You can put the tape on the wall and then go over the edges with a thin stripe or PAINTABLE clear caulking! One part will come up with the tape, the other stays on the wall under the paint, and keeps the paint from seeping under the edge of the tape. Just remember to keep it thin so you don’t see it on the wall! Hazel February 25, 2015
The size will also affect how much primer and paint you’ll need to purchase. As a reference, one gallon of any Behr paint will cover approximately 250 to 400 square feet (one coat). Your home will most likely need two coats, especially if you’re choosing a darker color.
The cost can increase up to $5 to $6 per sqft based on the overall square footage, the complexity of the job, and the quality of the primer and paint applied. Labor takes 75 to 80% of the overall costs of any painting projects.
Aside from being one of the most beautiful times of the year, fall is the perfect time to paint the exterior of your home. The temperature is moderate and typically sunny. There are also fewer insects and no pollen to worry about entering your home.

You may only be able to afford someone on the lower end? While the odds of them providing just as great of work, or good enough is likely significantly lower, you may get lucky? Especially, if he/ she simply doesn’t know their actual value or what the market will bare. Remember again, you get what you pay for. The happiness of low prices doesn’t last as long as sub-par craftsmanship. Plus, it cost more money to fix it!
There is also a section that gives prices for different projects, depending on the part of the house that is painted.
