If you’re looking to paint the exterior of your home in the wintertime, people may tell you that it’s not possible. They’ll say all construction projects stop until springtime. This is a misconception! Especially in California, with low rainfall and above-freezing average temperatures all year long, it is possible to paint your house in the winter. PaintRite Pros is a Sacramento painter team that offers our clients the highest quality of workmanship every month of the year.

If you're not confident in your ability to cut a clean, straight line with your paint brush - you might want to consider using some blue painter's tape to mask off any window and door trim, baseboards, crown moldings, etc. that you don't want to accidentally bump with your brush and roller cover.

Satin paint has a nice sheen and is ideal for exterior trim areas that are used or touched often. This highly durable, stretchy paint resists peeling and mildew. A satin paint finish is perfect for use on a variety of trim areas such as eaves, soffits, overhangs, trim boards, porch ceilings/trim, door frames, window sills, and so much more. It’s important to note that satin paint magnifies imperfections like dents, dings, cratering, and ridges in older wood trim and wood siding.
Interior and exterior paints need to stand up to entirely different menaces. Paint on the interior of your home will need to be cleaned or even scrubbed. Exterior paints need to be resistant to weather and sun damage. Both exterior and interior paints are a combination of pigment, solvent, resins, and additives. The solvent in paint keeps it liquid and spreadable until it dries on your wall or trim. Latex painting dries more quickly because its solvent is water. The solvent in oil-based paints is mineral spirits, which takes more time to evaporate. Once the paint is applied, the solvent evaporates, and the resin allows the paint to adhere to the surface. Various additives in paint give it desirable characteristics, like moisture and scrub resistance.
Be ready to pay a minimum of 50% more for your job if you plan to have textured ceilings or walls: about $6 to $7.5 per sqft. There are differences in price and quality of interior paint.
As an employee, you’ll often work with tools and materials provided by the contractor or employer. But if you work for one of the many employers who like to hire you as an independent contractor, you may have to buy brushes, rollers and other necessary tools. You can start with as little as $100, and add tools as you need them.
Many factors impact how often you should paint your home, but there are basic guidelines you should follow. For common spaces like living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms, you can get away with painting every five to seven years as long as you use high-quality paint.
You don't need to be an interior designer to create a fun and energetic space for your little ones.
Is black the new neutral? Black houses are certainly on the rise, and there’s no denying their chic appeal. But you may want to consider these cons before crossing over to the dark side: First, black houses absorb more heat from the sun than white houses. And black fades faster than lighter colors. For a full analysis, see Black Houses: The Pros and Cons of a Dark Painted Facade. 9. Selling your house? Consider a dark door. If you just bought your home, it is hard to know when it was last painted. However, you can try to inquire about the paint job to plan out when your house might need a repaint job. The quality and type of paint used, how many coats were used, and the color used, all have an impact on longevity.
This is because acrylic paint is the most durable of almost all paint types, ensuring protection from the elements, storms, and potential fading from the sun for several years to come.
Outside of work, Lee likes to stay active with exercise and outdoor activities. “I go to the gym five days a week, and I’m an avid swimmer and cyclist. I also do a lot of skiing in the winter and enjoy taking walks along the beach.” Additionally, Lee likes spending time with his wife, Alexandra, their two grown children, Britney and River, and their one-year old daughter, Meadow. “After being in an empty nest for a while, Alexandra and I recently had another daughter. It’s been an amazing experience to have a second go-round at parenthood.”
