Between labor and materials, the average cost to professionally paint the interior of a 1,500 sq.ft. house ranges from $4,500 to $6,000. To complete one coat of paint throughout your entire space, you need between three and four gallons of paint. The overall cost of your project depends on the type of paint you use, the current state of your home, and the layout of your space as well.

Mike Chavez Painting used light blue paint with white trim on the front side of this Victorian home.
My house was a 70s build, and almost completely wallpapered with a lot of the wallpaper painted over, which definitely didn’t help in removing it all! I also had a slightly different problem with removing wallpaper – the previous owners had used vinyl wallpaper, which when steamed stretched a lot rather than scraping off easily. It was easier to just score and scrape or peel off the paper dry, and later steam off any papery bits that were left on the wall.
4 general steps usually followed by the estimator to calculate interior painting:Take the measurement and count the number of things to be painted, including the required preparatory work and clean-up. Determine the number of hours it will take using common production rates.Multiply the hours by the hourly rate of the painting company. The painter’s wages, the projected and overhead net profit of the company, as well as payroll contributions, are all included in the hourly rate. Add the cost of paint and materials to the above cost. You should also take into consideration the cost of any equipment rented for this painting job.
Another popular darker exterior house shade that is picking up steam is Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams. This trending color is characterized as a rich, dark gray that reads more like deep charcoal than black.

For this step, you’ll need: Exterior house paint, a sprayer, paintbrushes, and rollers.
You should always prime before you paint. It guarantees a great finish and allows you to use less paint.
6. Paint other exterior features. Remove the masking tape and use a small brush to paint the trim, windows, doors, soffit, fascia, and any other features that need a fresh coat.
You would likely spend several days, maybe more than a week, painting your home, and you likely wouldn’t get as clean a finish as you would if you hired a professional painter.
Prep work for old homes can be especially difficult. Poor prep work on an exterior will mean needing to re-paint sooner (sometimes literally within 1-2 years), which will cost far more time and money than doing it correctly in the first place. In fact, a good professional paint company may use more than half of the entire project time preparing a surface to paint. Trust the process; this time could be difference in hundreds of hours and dollars.
