While it’s best to simply choose a Diamond Certified painting company because of their Highest in Quality rating, that may not always be possible. If you’re unable to choose a Diamond Certified contractor in your area of Sonoma County, you can improve your chances of hiring a good painter by checking out candidates on the Contractors State License Board website to ensure active license and workers’ compensation insurance. Violations and license revocations will appear on their license record, so you’ll know about serious customer grievances and complaints that have been filed with the state.
Painting an average-sized house costs between $9,100 and $26,000. House styles, materials, and sizes showcase incredible variation across the country. The cost of painting a house varies considerably based on the home's location, its size, and whether it's a one-story or two-story home. Due to the costs involved in painting a house of 2,600 or greater square feet, you may find it more affordable to schedule an exterior paint job at a separate time from the interior paint job if you've chosen to use the highest-quality paints and materials. .
Painting your home is like buying a car (but hopefully not that expensive!) or buying new furniture. Not only does an awesome paint job say a lot about you, but it’s also a big investment that deserves a lot of consideration. Just like buying a car, you typically get what you pay for—so you want to consider a few factors going into it—like who the manufacturer is (the paint), who made it (the painter), and what condition it is in (the prep).
The average cost to paint a bedroom is $350 to $850, while a master bedroom runs $650 to $1,400. The DIY cost to paint bedroom walls is $100 to $300, which requires two gallons of paint. Prices depend on the room size and whether the baseboards, trim, and ceiling are painted. Cost To Paint A Bedroom Room Size Average Cost 10x10 $300 – $700 10x12 $350 – $850 12x12 $400 – $950 12x15 $500 – $1,000 14x16 $650 – $1,250 16x16 $750 – $1,400
BEHR paints are available in quarts for painting a small area, and five-gallon pails for a very large area.
Ceilings may require just as much prep as the walls depending on the situation. Water damage and fixing cracks in ceilings is often a costly necessity. The added cost is due to the difficulty of performing prep work like sanding, patching, and priming an overhead surface and safe ladder work.
Peeling paint, chipped siding, or other issues are often symptoms of underlying issues in the stucco or wood. A house's frame can become damaged by weather over time, which can bubble up into surface-level issues with the outer coats of paint. At SF House Painting, we recognize this, and prioritize carpentry and repair work which fixes the underlying issues. All of our projects start with this preparation phase, ensuring the longevity of your paint job. We even offer a free five-year warranty. We're that confident that our products will last. “If you are sensitive to the chemicals in the paint, there’s always a safe option of paint to select like natural paint or low VOC paint. If you do not like the smell of oil based paint, you can substitute it for aquanamel water- based paint. However, if current door and frames are oil based, you will firstly need to sand off the gloss from the oil based paint and apply a stronger undercoat before you paint the aquanamel” Michael Tran – Project Manager
Picking quality paint will give you better-looking results that require fewer coats and last much longer. Keep that in mind when pricing or receiving recommendations.

Yes i completely agree with getting quality tools! I have had so many frustrations from buying garbage tools. It ends up costing more in the long run. Thank you so much for sharing this was very helpful! Painter December 26, 2020
Of course, how smooth your painted surfaces will look majorly depends on the climate of the area, but if you stick to the guidelines we have discussed here, you are sure to have an unblemished finish. Before you start painting, get your siding in top shape. Repair cracks and holes in finishes such as stucco, replace any rotten wood and treat insects and mold. Putty surface pitting and seal seams. If you want to remove peeling or cracking paint, you can sandblast. Follow up this with a power wash and ensure you apply the recommended amount of pressure. After power wash, allow your surfaces to dry completely so that you will have no trapped moisture under your paint. Also, in case it rains heavily, gives your house time to dry. Observe the weather to ensure that painting is done when the weather is dry and mild
The prep work is meticulous, they carefully protect surfaces not meant to be painted, including my beautiful Cordyline plants that touch the wall. They even taped plastic over my cement floor backyard. The quality of the work is great, I don't see any flaws in the paint job, and the paint is quick drying with no overwhelming paint smell. They fixed any minor flaws with the surfaces, applying patches and re-stuccoing as needed. My house looks new again!
