We know that hiring a painting contractor to come to your home or business can be stressful. You don’t know who will show up (or when), how they will conduct themselves, how well qualified they are, or what to expect with the quality of their work.
Before a new paint job is done, it is important to make sure you don’t have any old paint chipping away and causing problems. .
As with most home renovation projects, one of the largest costs associated with exterior house painting is labor. Hiring a professional company to paint the exterior of your home will typically cost you between $30 to $40 per hour per painter required to assist with the work. Most home painting businesses allot two painters per job, and these two workers are most typically able to cover 100 square feet of the home per hour. Based on a home that is 2,400 square feet in size, the labor cost to simply paint the house once all the prep work has been completed would range from $1,440 to $1,920.
Josh, some great work on the renovation, it’s come up really nicely! It’s good to see you stressing the importance of not taking short cuts when it comes to prepping and removing wallpaper. It definitely does lead to more problems down the road when done incorrectly. However there is a caveat on that. If the wallpaper is in good condition and you have primed it properly, you can get away with painting over wallpaper. On a few jobs where the client has been on a tight budget, we have used an oil based primer to really seal the adhesive and keep then moisture from the paint away. Has worked well and we haven’t got any call backs. But I’d still agree with you and always push for stripping back wallpaper where possible. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as the saying goes. Also, would love to see how your painted popcorn ceilings came up. We call it ‘vermiculite’. Its quite old school and we come across it in school jobs and old buildings occasionally. Jake Beals May 09, 2020

Interior paints and exterior paints may look the same on a surface level, but the truth is they are a bit different in composition. Interior paints can be rather basic. Exterior paints include many ingredients that boost resistance to impact, moisture, and harmful UV rays.
A perk of going dark: You may be able to skip the primer if the original paint is a lighter color, and you may need fewer coats! Another cost-saving idea: Refresh your house with the same color rather than choosing a different hue; you’ll probably need just one coat. For some cons of dark paints, skip to #8. 5. You’ll need to protect your plants. When hiring an interior painter, do your research, ask plenty of questions, and get at least three quotes from contractors with a good reputation. Getting Interior Painting Quotes Research painting contractors near you, or ask friends, family, and neighbors for references. Read reviews and check out their previous work on HomeGuide, Google, and the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Contact at least three professionals for price quotes.Always get painting estimates in-person, and be skeptical of low bids. Verify their licensing, insurance, and experience. Never pay cash and figure out a reasonable payment plan upfront. Get a detailed contract in writing, including prep work and cleanup. Remember, the lowest bid is not always the best value since they might use cheap materials or unskilled labor. Questions To Ask Interior Painters How long have you been painting? Is your license and insurance up to date? Will you be using subcontractors? How many painting jobs have you completed in the last year? Can I have a list of references with contact information?
